Implementation of the 2022-2030 National Event Strategy for Wales

Event Wales, a key stakeholder in the creation of Wales’ new National Event Strategy, commissioned EHE to support the development of a new suite of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as part of the Implementation Plan of the 2022-2030 Event Strategy.

The Strategy was published in July 2022 and addresses the global drive to develop a more sustainable events industry and also specifically focuses on events supporting the achievement of the seven well-being goals contained in Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol, Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (“the Well-being Act”).

EHE created a report proposing KPIs which acknowledge international guidelines for impact evaluation (particularly recognising the differences between input, outputs and outcomes) and address the structure of the Well-being Act alongside references to other relevant national publications. The KPIs are applicable across all events (sporting, cultural and business) and the consistent approach to data gathering will enable Event Wales to demonstrate how a portfolio of events delivers on the ambition of the new National Strategy for Events.
